Picnic, Walking, and Old Fashioned Family Fun

July 6 @ 3:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Picnic, Walking, Biking and Old Fashioned Family Fun at North Glenmore Park!

Join us at North Glenmore Park on July 6th from 3:30 PM onward until evening for a potluck picnic, short or longer walks in the park with scenic vistas, and good old fashioned fun.

Kelsang Khacho will guide us in the art of water balloon tossing (she assures us you don’t get wet if you are mindful). There will be frisbee and other lawn games. AND, everyone’s favorite: bubble blowing. You must be between 1 and 108 years of age to participate but if you are outside that age range you can still enjoy the picnic and nature.
We have the Meadowlark (A) picnic site reserved for us. It is the furthest east picnic site in the park. Arriving on Crowchild Trail is the most direct.  You continue past the Lakeview Shopping Plaza, straight though 66 Ave SW, into North Glenmore Park. Continue past the Lakeview golf course and Canoe Club to Parking Lot A. This is the closest parking lot to our site but no worries if it is full  – just a little farther is Parking Lot B and C.  There is a small playground just past Parking Lot B with more parking.
From Parking Lot  A there is a paved pathway to the left or you can walk straight across the grass to the Meadowlark site.  From Parking Lots B & C,  turn left on the paved walkway along the reservoir till you reach the last picnic site. The sites are signed. Meadowlark site has a bricket/wood barbecue (if you wish to use it please bring all the necessary supplies), a fire pit and 3 picnic tables. It is next to the walkway so you can’t miss it. We have nice views of the water from our site.
You can get directions from wherever you are coming from here. Our picnic site is near Vista Point on this map. You can check out The City of Calgary North Glenmore Park website page to get a peak at the beautiful setting in nature awaiting us.
The reservoir paved path is wheelchair accessible as is our picnic site. There is a 10 km bike trail around the reservoir for the bikers amongst us. I think it accommodates everyone.
Come early at 3:00 PM if you’d like to help us set up or stay late to help us pack up at 8:30 PM. We’d greatly appreciate it if you could donate a few dollars to help us cover the cost of the picnic site rental. You can do it here. If everyone donated just $5 each we’d cover our costs.
Looking forward to seeing you there. If you have a suggestion for a game or activity you would like to share please let us know. There is plenty of green space around our site for all to enjoy.
