Hike & Meditation: fundraiser
July 8 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Fundraising Hike in Beautiful Kananaskis (or Dharma Walk in the Mountains)
Join us for an enjoyable hike on Saturday, July 8 starting at 10am from the Fullerton Loop trail parking lot near Bragg Creek. It is a wide inviting trail combining wonderful views along a ridge with a lovely forest walk. It’s not too long (4.8 km round trip) and not too steep (Elevation gain 190 m). You can bring your family and friends and enjoy visiting on this hike which ascends through cool coniferous forest opening to wide views at the top. We plan to stop at the top for snacks and a guided mediation. Allow 2.5 to 3 hr. for the hike. There are trails that branch off from this loop and a picnic site at the base (Allen Bill Pond) which you can explore after the hike if you wish.
This hike has two purposes:
1. It gives us an opportunity to visit and discuss Dharma while enjoying the fresh mountain air
2. To support our Buddhist Centre which is facing rent hikes and other increasing expenses.
You can register for the hike at the Centre (the best option) or on our website. We have suggested donations, $21, $37, $108 (auspicious Buddhist numbers) or you can make a donation of your choice on our regular donation page. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt. Please give your physical address and email for receipt purposes when registering.
What to bring? Good hiking shoes, water, snacks, rain coat (weather can change quickly in the mountains), and something to sit on the ground during the break and meditation.
Where to meet? The hike leaves from a trail signpost at the northeast corner of the parking lot. We will meet here for a hike start at 10am. A pass for Kananaskis Park is needed for all vehicles. If you don’t have an annual pass for your vehicle, the daily pass is $15 and available at alberta.ca/kananaskis-conservation-pass.aspx
Some people have annual passes and are happy to carpool. Let us know if you need a ride when you register or you have a pass and can give a ride and we can assist in helping everyone get there.
Access: From Bragg Creek, drive 3.4 km south on Hwy 22 and turn right or west onto Elbow Falls Trail (Hwy 66). Continue west for 9.7 km and turn left at the T-intersection to park at the last parking area beside the picnic shelter.
