
Day Retreat: Training in Concentration

Two – Day Retreats:
Sundays: Jan 7 & Jan 21
Concentration is a single-pointed virtuous mind that gives rise to mental peace and happiness. It is very important to train in concentration, as with distractions we cannot accomplish anything.
During these two retreat days, we will have the opportunity to train in and experience the power of our own concentration. We will develop a deep peace that far exceeds the bliss of ordinary sense pleasures and that naturally causes our negative minds — such as attachment, anger and jealousy — to subside. Finally, by making our body and mind supple, comfortable and easy to direct wherever we wish, concentration enables us to become deeply familiar with virtuous objects — special thoughts that lead to happiness and mental peace — and thereby swiftly progress to the supreme happiness of enlightenment.
Schedule:
Session 1: 9:00 – 10:00am
Regular Sunday Class: 11am – 12:15pm (This class is separate from the retreat; however, you are free to join.)
Session 2: 3:00 – 4:00pm
Session 3: 4:30 – 5:30pm
