Spring Detox: Silent Meditation Retreat
Location: Sanctum Retreat Centre, hosted by Akshobya Kadampa Buddhist Centre
Meditations to Purify our Heart
Our daily life is filled with so much information, activity, technology, and competing demands. At the end of the day we can feel scattered, stressed, and worn down. Over time we can carry a lot of stress and may adopt unhealthy habits as coping mechanisms. Although we are more digitally connected than ever before, we are increasingly disconnected from our peace of mind. Perhaps it’s time for a mental and spiritual cleanse!
There are many ways to cleanse our mind. One of the most delightful practices that deeply purifies our mind is meditation on love and compassion for others. In this retreat, we will learn and practice contemplations that develop a pure and loving intention in our heart toward all other living beings. When we have consideration for others and wish no harm, only happiness, all of our actions will become pure. We will remove many obstacles to our own happiness as well.
As Geshe Kelsang Gyatso says,
“Learning to cherish others is the best method to solve our own and others’ problems. If everyone sincerely prays to be able to cherish living beings, then gradually, through the power of this prayer, everyone will actually cherish each other. The world would then be permanently at peace and pure and everlasting happiness will pervade the entire world.”
This means that by developing a supreme good intention and keeping it in our heart all of the time, we will purify our minds of toxic negativity that prevents the bliss of our full potential. How wonderful is that?
Please join us in simple but profound contemplations and meditations that will start us on the path to complete purity of intention. We dedicate this retreat so that “All living beings think only of benefitting one another.”
This retreat is suitable for everyone. We guarantee your enjoyment!
Carpooling can be arranged. If you have any questions, please feel free to call (403) 454-7595 or email us at info@meditateincalgary.org.
