Authentic Happiness
May 23 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

May 23 – Jun 13
Time: 7:00 – 8:15pm
Cost: $15 per session or $48 for the full series (free for supporting members)
In his poem, Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, Bodhisattva Shantideva, a great Buddhist Master, wrote:
All the happiness there is in the world arises from wishing others to be happy,
and all the suffering there is in this world arises from wishing ourself to be happy.
In writing this, Shantideva challenges our way of thinking. His wisdom in this quote is the opposite of how we think. In this series, we will challenge our normal way of thinking and learn to identify our self-centred mind in our own experience. We will then look at the disadvantages of this deluded mind and how this way of thinking sabotages our search for happiness. By following Shantideva’s advice, we will learn how to develop a mind that creates true happiness.
May 23: Defining the self-centred mind
May 30: Learning to recognize this mind in our daily lives
Jun 6: Opposing the self-centred mind
Jun 13: Experiencing true happiness
